Microwave ovens bad for the planet as 7 million cars!

Microwave ovens gives as much CO2 as the annual emissions of 6.8 million cars! This means that these microwaves give a huge impact on the earth!Meaning global warming and less oxygen for us to live in!

The microwave seems like the handy oven causing no harm at all in the corner of the kitchen.But new research has found microwaves in the E.U have as much environmental impact as 7 million cars!

Dr Alejandro Gallego-Schmid said:

"Given that microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all ovens in the E.U,it is increasingly important to start addressing their impact on resource use and end-of-life waste."

Researchers suggested

New design regulations that would lessen the impact on our environment that microwave ovens are making.They found the manufacturing process alone made up to 20 percent of microwaves' impact on mother nature.

However,electricity consumption created the biggest impact as microwaves use 573 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity over eight years which equals to the amount consumed by seven-watt LED light bulb if it was left on for 9 years!!

Dr Gallego-Schmid:

Also added that microwave ovens were now thrown away after 8 years,compared with 15 years in the 1990s.

He said the pile of ovens in the E.U was expected to grow from 184,000 tons in 2005 to 195,000 tons in 2025 making it one of the fastest growing waste streams worldwide!!
